Sheldon was "parts manager, webmaster and general tech guru" of Harris Cyclery, a bike shop in West Newton, Massachusetts and omnipresent on any online bike forum worth mentioning. Often, the replies to individual tech questions were (and still are…) referred to his homepage by other forum users with: AASHTA (As Always, Sheldon Has The Answer). He was an enthusiast for old and unlikely forms of bicycles and cycling including Raleigh and other English three-speed bicycles - the Sturmey-Archer hub in general, folders, tandems, in particular fixed-gear cycles . Arguably, he forgot more about bikes than most of us will ever know. He once sent me a great e-mail answer to a tech issue I was having with my folder’s gearing after I posted in bikeforums.net. Brown developed primary progressive multiple sclerosis in the last years of his life and after losing his ability to balance an upright bicycle, he continued pedaling by using a recumbent tricycle. Brown died on February 3, 2008 after a heart attack.
